As a product technical illustrator, I feel that putting your design ideas into paper is for other people to enjoy. This means that we need to draw and catch their attention. We do not draw because we feel what we draw is good for us. However, if we do not keep our clients needs and requirements in mind, we only have ourselves to appreciate the end results of our sketches. If we want to make money, then please do a little research about the latest trend. One thing though, our thoughts may matter but we cannot argue about what the client wants. We cannot make them like something that does not appeal to their tastes. Top quality drawings for a digital graphic artist and technical illustrator actually means creating images that ultimately capture the eyes and hearts including the pockets of the consumers.
A freelance digital graphic designer perceives the world a little differently. One may use the digital software to manipulate visual images as well as enhance the quality of the output. Recent developments in computer technology allow amazing new tools in the hands of the graphic artists and digital designers. I am convinced that combining both modern and traditional graphic illustration styles would result to better print images. Furthermore, as a freelance illustrator, I still think that we need to find our own voice in our graphic works. This could be like having a trademark style. Something that is unique and just yours!
We need to sharpen and streamline our visualization technique in simple and advanced composition or even using digital hybrid drawings. If you prefer to use a sketchbook first then buy one, fit into your pocket, and begin drawing whenever an idea comes into your mind. Sketchbooks help you record a pattern that you may use in another technical illustration or diagram.
